Information We Collect

Account Information

• Parents: Email address, password (encrypted), name
• Children: Name, birth date (optional), grade level (optional), PIN (encrypted)

Usage Data

• Chore completions and approvals
• Earnings and payment history
• Family settings and preferences

Optional Data

• Photo proofs: Images uploaded as proof of chore completion. These are automatically deleted after approval.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

• Provide and maintain the ChoreBucks service
• Enable family members to interact within the app
• Calculate and track allowances and earnings
• Send notifications about chore approvals and reminders (if enabled)

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase services:

• All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
• Passwords and PINs are hashed and never stored in plain text
• Photo proofs are stored temporarily and deleted after approval
• Data is stored in EU data centers

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.

Your family's data is only accessible to members of your family within the app.

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

ChoreBucks is designed for family use including children. We take children's privacy seriously:

• Children can only join families created by their parents
• We collect minimal data from children (name, optional age/grade)
• Children's data is controlled by parents within the family
• We do not display advertising to children
• Parents can request deletion of their children's data at any time

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your data
• Correction: Update or correct your information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Export: Export your family's data in a portable format

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

• All personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days
• Photo proofs are deleted immediately
• Anonymized usage statistics may be retained

Third-Party Services

ChoreBucks uses the following third-party services:

• Google Firebase: Authentication, database, and storage
• Firebase Cloud Messaging: Push notifications (optional)

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the app or via email.
